Stephen G. Girolami, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

Medical Informatics Leader & CMIO

Dr. Stephen Girolami began his role as executive director of medical clinical informatics of Community Technologies in 2019. He has been affiliated with its parent company, Providence Health, since 1991 when he started his private practice career as a board certified Obstetrician Gynecologist. He transitioned into new roles as an OB hospitalist and a system provider informaticist when Providence began its journey with Epic in 2011. It was this collaboration and his ongoing presence at implementations that ignited his passion for clinical informatics. As a member of the Epic Clinical Optimization (E.C.O.) team, Dr. Girolami collaborated and championed the development and deployment of the OB hemorrhage and treatment of maternal hypertension, which has been recognized and applauded in a variety of arenas for best practice.

In addition to his specialty, he has taken the time to participate in the physician builder program, expanding his knowledge of Epic, as well as become fluent in a multitude of Epic workflows, including, ambulatory, surgical, and inpatient (provider  and nursing). This broad knowledge base has been critical to the success of multiple implementations and system projects, improving clinician experience and patient care.
